Bestsellers in one channel are overlooked in another
Google Ads and Meta Ads rely on separate performance histories. Compare product sales and exposure to activate items whose potential has already been demonstrated in another channel.

Why does it matter?
- Separate data silos
A product's results in one platform do not automatically translate into exposure in another.
- Potential without visibility
A strong seller in Google Ads may receive few impressions in Meta Ads — and vice versa.
- Budget for established leaders
General campaigns may keep favoring products with a performance history while overlooking the rest of the catalog.
Frameworks #1: How to combine Meta Ads and Google Ads data
How to diagnose the problem?
Open Models → Products in Data Octopus and compare product performance across channels.
- 1
Find products with above-average sales in Google Ads or GA4 and below-average impressions in Meta Ads.
- 2
Check the reverse pattern too: high exposure in Meta Ads with low sales in Google Ads or GA4.
- 3
Adapt thresholds to your catalog. At least several dozen matching products indicate a segment worth activating separately.
Action strategy
- ALabel the segment in your feed
Assign products to an available custom label, such as Custom Label 0, and save the mapping. For Google Ads, refresh the feed in Google Merchant Center or wait for its automatic update.
- BAllocate an activation budget
In Google Ads, create a PLA or PMAX campaign targeting only this label. Give the products their own budget and bidding strategy.
- CPrevent campaign overlap
Exclude the same label from other PLA and PMAX campaigns so the products do not appear in multiple campaigns at once.
What to measure?
- Product movement out of the label
This is the primary KPI: check whether products leave the segment after exceeding the sales thresholds.
- Product exposure
Monitor whether previously overlooked products gain visibility in the channel being activated.
- Orders
Verify that greater exposure leads to more orders, not just more impressions.
Connect cross-channel diagnosis with a product label and a dedicated budget. Assess activation primarily through products leaving the segment rather than immediate ROAS.

Frequently asked questions
Will a Google Ads bestseller automatically gain reach in Meta Ads?
No, because each platform relies on its own historical data. Data Octopus lets you compare results and identify products whose potential is not being used in the other channel.
How should I choose sales and impression thresholds for cross-channel analysis?
Use your catalog's average performance as the reference point rather than a universal number. In Data Octopus, set filters in Models → Products to reveal a clear gap between sales and exposure.
Why is my custom label not visible in Google Ads yet?
After you save the mapping in Data Octopus, the label must reach the updated feed. Check the feed refresh in Google Merchant Center — you can trigger it manually or wait for the scheduled update.
Does a shrinking product label indicate success?
Yes, if products leave the segment because their sales improve and they no longer meet the filter conditions. Review the size of the label created in Data Octopus alongside order results in Google Ads.
